Mllango Village Orphanage, Eldoret, Kenya, Africa
On a steeply sloped, 52 acre site in the highlands of Western Kenya, Open Arms International are establishing a village for Aids orphans comprising a series of 16 child orphan homes with integral accommodation for house parents and assistants; cottages for visiting volunteers, guests and staff; and an office/medical clinic providing primary care and dental services to the local community. Future plans are for a school on adjacent land.
CAD Architecture have masterplanned the site, generating building types for each function, and co-ordinating the detailing with the local architect and engineer. Also AGP are project managing the construction in conjunction with the Kenyan Contractor, Quantity Surveyor.
